Give them a hand
The Pictures of our present lives invite us to reflect on the theme of the outcast, the last ones, the excluded, that sometimes we don't consider in their complexity, because we are concentrated on our own life without looking in the eyes of everyone as a first step to really meet them. The volunteers in all its forms is an essential structural component of the italian social landscape. The are 3.7 million of volunteers in Italy, 701918839 hours offered to the population. The volunteers help hundreds of people that are in difficulties, giving them the opportunity to have a decent meal, to wash and get clean cloths. These angels without wings give smiles where poverty and sadness took away the courage and, perhaps, the will to live, strongly believe that indifference can be demolished.

Immagini dal nostro presente invitano a riflettere sul tema degli emarginati, degli ultimi, degli esclusi, dei «diversi» dai quali spesso distogliamo lo sguardo. Un invito a guardare negli occhi l’altro come primo passo per incontrarlo davvero. Il volontariato, in tutte le sue forme, rappresenta una componente strutturale ed imprescindibile del panorama sociale italiano. 3,7 milioni di volontari in Italia, 701.918.839 ore offerte al bene comune. I volontari accolgono centinaia di persone in difficoltà, dando loro la possibilità di consumare un pasto decente, lavarsi e ricevere vestiti puliti. Questi angeli senza ali regalano sorrisi dove la povertà e la tristezza hanno tolto il coraggio e, forse, la voglia di vivere, fermamente convinti che l’indifferenza può essere demolita.
