Concerie di Fès
Fès è la terza città più grande del Marocco e la più antica delle Città Imperiali. All’interno della sua Medina, si trovano le antiche Concerie di Fès, dove da secoli si pratica la concia delle pelli: le più antiche e le più straordinarie sono le Concerie Chouara.
La loro particolarità sta nel fatto che l’attività svolta dagli uomini che vi lavorano ed il loro metodo di lavorazione delle pelli, è rimasto invariato da 1000 anni. Le Concerie Chouara risalgono al medioevo, sono le più antiche del paese, e sono entrate di diritto a far parte del patrimonio mondiale dell’umanità tutelato dall’Unesco.
Fès is the third largest city in Morocco and the oldest of the Imperial Cities. Within its medina, there are the ancient tanneries of Fès, the oldest and most extraordinary are the Concerie Chouara.
Their particularity lies in the fact that the activity carried out by men has been unchanged for 1000 years. The Chouara Tanneries date back to the Middle Ages, are the oldest in the country, and have entered by law a part of the world heritage of humanity protected by UNESCO.
